Amazon has launch its Prime Video service in India. Now users Android and iOS user can download the Prime video app on their mobile.

If you are already a prime video subscriber you just need to sign to the app and start using the service. Amazon prime video service launched in July, it’s been offered to new users as part of special introductory price of Rs.499/ year. User can 1st avail the Amazon prime video on a trial of 30 days before subscribing to the yearly plan.

That means Prime at just Rs. 499 per year; expected full price is Rs. 999 per year, though it’s unclear when that comes into effect. At the present rate, that works out to Rs. 41.50 per month for Amazon Prime Video, and even at full price it would be Rs. 83.25 per month. Its way lower than Netflix, which charges Rs 650 / month, and Hotstar charges Rs. 190 / month.

Amazon India has officially confirmed tie-ups with the likes of Dharma Productions – owned by director and producer Karan Johar – T-Series, as well as Arka Mediaworks’ SS Rajamouli for Prime Video.

Although it is expected to have some impact on the other video streaming service providers, it is also can been seen as a strategy to counter likes of other ecommerce company like flipkart. There is much to wait and see how the strategy works from here.
The content available on the app also seems robust, even at this early stage. You can download the app from Playstore or iTunes.
