Your Microsoft Internet explorer browser can’t be used after June confirmed by the company
Much popular some years back the Microsoft Internet explorer will not be available to us from next year.
Microsoft has confirmed this officially and said that the browser Internet explorer would retire on June 15, 2020.
As per an article published at The Verge the browser was unused by many users in recent past years.
Since there are more advanced browsers like Google Chrome with extensions and Firefox available currently.
A Microsoft Edge program manager, Sean Lyndersay, in a video on Youtube has announced the retirement of the Internet explorer. In an official statement, the company said,
“We are announcing that the future of Internet Explorer on Windows 10 is in Microsoft Edge. The Internet Explorer 11 desktop application will be retired and go out of support on June 15, 2022, for certain versions of Windows 10.”
“The Internet Explorer 11 desktop application will be retired and go out of support on June 15, 2022, for certain versions of Windows 10.”
However, the company has confirmed that the Long-Term Servicing Channel (LTSC) of Windows 10 will still include Internet Explorer next year, all consumer versions will end support of the browser.
This move from Microsoft does not surprises us, since they are encouraging users to shift to Microsoft Edge instead.
Company is already started asking all the users to switch from Explorer to Edge by next year.
The company created the IE mode for edge a few months ago for a smooth process.
This IE mode in the edge browser is supported till 2029.
As per official statement, the Microsoft said,
“IE mode support follows the lifecycle of Windows client, Server, and IoT releases at least through 2029. Additionally, Microsoft will give one year of notice before retiring the IE mode experience when the time comes.”
Even last year Microsoft had already stopped the support service for internet explorer, so this retirement of internet explorer on the cards.
The internet explorer was with us for around 25 years, however the lack of upgrade as per user requirement when compared to google chrome has led to its downfall.
